
Fifteen residents of Memphis have been indicted following a federal grand jury's decision, which revealed an organized drug trafficking operation within the city. From November 2023 to June 2024, these individuals are accused of conspiring to distribute narcotics such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, and also possessing illegal firearms, as reported by Action News 5.
Among the seized items by investigators were 29 firearms, which included two stolen vehicles, approximately 938 grams of methamphetamine, around 541 grams of fentanyl, about 200 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and 26.43 pounds of marijuana, in addition to over $4,000 in cash. Having been connected to the "Young Mob" street gang, the defendants' are potentially facing varied sentences, with some facing up to life in prison, according to WREG.
The collaborative investigation leading to these indictments was the result of the efforts of several agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Multi-Agency Gang Unit, Memphis Police Department, Bartlett Police Department, and Shelby County Sheriff's Office. The extensive collection of firearms recovered during the investigation also included five machinegun conversion devices, known as "switches," highlighting the serious nature of the alleged criminal operation.
