As the Memphis Grizzlies continue to weave their way through the NBA 2K25 Summer League, they notched another decisive victory, thrashing the Dallas Mavericks with a final tally of 108-88 on Monday. Even with the conspicuous absence of their ninth overall pick Zach Edey for a fourth straight game, Memphis showed no signs of weakness, outplaying Dallas at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas. WREG reports that the Grizzlies’ defense was relentless from the jump, spearheaded by guard Scotty Pippen Jr. who snagged five steals and accumulated 19 points and seven assists.
It's safe to say that Memphis's summer league squad has been on a roll, credited with numerous forced turnovers that led to many easy buckets on the other end. Alongside Pippen Jr., rookie GG Jackson turned heads with an impressive double-double, putting up 23 points and 11 rebounds, as conveyed by NBA.com. Memphis's ability to dictate the game's pace from the outset forced more than twice as many turnovers as Dallas had points, intercepting and disrupting Mavericks play early and often.
The Grizzlies' contribution was widespread, with teammates Cam Spencer and Jaylen Wells also registering double figures, as outlined by The Commercial Appeal. Spencer finished the game with 11 points, and Wells tacked on 13, underscoring a team effort that saw the Grizzlies shoot an efficient 54.5 percent from the field. Dallas, struggling to keep pace, turned the ball over 27 times, a season-high for forced turnovers in this year’s summer league action.
Despite missing key players, the Mavericks found some solace in the performance of Olivier-Maxence Prosper, who earned 16 points and four rebounds. Other contributors included AJ Lawson with 14 points and Brandon Williams notching 11 points, according to reports from NBA.com. The Grizzlies, on the other hand, maintained momentum and will be seeking to carry that energy into their next game against the Orlando Magic, following a dominating performance that was nothing short of a statement in the young and dynamic summer league.
