A Memphis man, Marchello Moore, will not see freedom outside prison walls again after being handed a 210-year sentence for a series of armed robberies. Moore, who was 43 at the time of sentencing, had escaped from the Dismas Charities Halfway House in Memphis.
Known for a previous conviction involving business and bank robberies in 2014, Moore, carrying the weight of his criminal history, found himself in the crosshairs of the law once more. In March 2022, having served part of a 10-year sentence, he evaded federal custody and embarked on a new crime spree that included eight business robberies and one attempted robbery over the summer of 2022, as Action News 5 reports.
According to WREG, the string of robberies Moore conducted at various establishments, including gas stations and other stores, saw their culmination in an incident where Moore attempted to rob a Circle K on Getwell Road and fled without any money. His freedom was short-lived after that, resulting in an arrest as his getaway car sputtered to a stop, running out of fuel.
As a result of his calculated and consecutive armed robberies, a United States District Court Judge sentenced Moore to the lengthy prison term, a reflection of the severity of his offenses, especially considering the involvement of firearms. In his decision, underscored by the mandatory minimums tied to such crimes, the judge's gavel fell upon Moore like an unyielding hammer of justice, as described by Fox13 Memphis.
