Memphis has seen a surge in carjackings, and the Memphis Police Department is currently on the hunt for suspects involved in a recent armed carjacking incident. According to Action News 5, the event unfolded in the early hours of July 4th, outside a Walgreens located at 3670 Riverdale Road. The victim reported that while sitting in his 2019 Infiniti QX60, two armed individuals, after pulling up in a red sedan, carjacked him.
The surveillance video revealed a tall, thin man wearing a black ski mask and another suspect of average height, clad also in a ski mask. According to reports by WREG, the suspects approached the victim's vehicle brandishing handguns. They then forcibly removed the victim before driving away in his vehicle followed by having the sedan tail them behind. No arrests have been made as of now and the authorities are soliciting tips from the public.
Further details describe one of the suspects as a man wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white shoes while carrying a black backpack. His accomplice sported a multicolored hooded sweatshirt, underneath was worn blue underwear, black pants, and white shoes.
