
The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking public assistance to identify and locate an individual connected to a robbery that transpired in the Southeast quadrant of the District.
During the late evening hours of May 23, 2024, a person was assailed while withdrawing cash from an ATM located at 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. According to the police report, at approximately 11:18 p.m., the suspect ambushed the victim from behind, committed an act of violence, and forcibly took the money that was dispensed by the machine. Following the incident, the perpetrator escaped from the location. As detailed on MPD's website, surveillance footage from the scene has been made available in an effort to facilitate the apprehension of the suspect.
The video reveals the suspect's appearance and mannerisms at the time of the robbery. The Metropolitan Police Department encourages anyone with information on this case, or who recognizes the individual in the video, to come forward and aid in the resolution of the case.
Residents and business owners in the vicinity have expressed concern about the brazen nature of the theft, and are urged to be vigilant while transacting at ATMs, especially during night hours.
