The incident occurred last Saturday, June 29, 2024, around 8:02 p.m. along the 1700 block of Fort Davis Street in Southeast, as reported by the MPD's official website. A suspect, allegedly armed with a gun, confronted the owner during a routine walk and forcibly took the dog before escaping in a vehicle.
According to the MPD's news release, the suspect's action has not only robbed the victim of a beloved pet but has also raised concerns about public safety in the community. The police have responded by releasing a photo and video of the suspect, hoping that members of the public can aid in identifying the individual responsible for this crime.
The video, shared by the MPD, shows a figure approaching the French Bulldog's owner before the altercation and subsequent theft. An appeal is being made for anyone with information to step forward, potentially leading to the dog's safe return and the suspect's apprehension. The Metropolitan Police have not disclosed further details about the suspect's description or the getaway vehicle at this time.
