Michigan State Police are currently investigating an incident on I-75, where gunfire erupted between two feuding drivers, inadvertently hitting an unrelated vehicle. The confrontation, which took place on Friday, July 26, escalated dangerously when one of the drivers brandished a firearm and shot at the other, missing their target and instead, striking a third driver's car.

The incident, which unfolded near the Detroit/Lincoln Park border, prompted a response from the Detroit Regional Communication Center at approximately 3:15 p.m., according to WWJ Newsradio. Michigan State Police's First Lieutenant Mike Shaw remarked on the need for drivers to avoid confrontation on the road, stating, “This is another case of two drivers being unable to de-escalate from each other during a driving dispute.” Shaw advises drivers who witness aggressive behavior to call 911, to try and exit the freeway if possible, and not to make eye contact with the aggressors.

No injuries have been reported following the shooting, and law enforcement officials are utilizing recovered evidence and technology to investigate the scene further. The Michigan State Police have not yet released any information about potential suspects or if any arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

In a related post by MSP Second District, the importance of driver safety was highlighted once more, "If you are driving and see a driver trying to engage with you, call 911. Try and exit if possible and if not try to create as much distance as possible. Most importantly do not make eye contact with them," F/Lt Mike Shaw emphasized. The ongoing investigation hopes to shed light on the circumstances that led to this dangerous altercation, detailed further in the official MSP Second District post on X.
