Early this morning, the Mill Valley Police Department (MVPD) apprehended a car thief, thanks to the vigilance of Officer Di Lillo. While on patrol, Di Lillo spotted a vehicle that appeared out of place and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. The situation escalated quickly when the occupants exited the vehicle and scattered on foot, prompting a chase that led to the capture of one suspect, as confirmed by the Mill Valley Police Department's Facebook page.
An investigation soon after the incident uncovered that the car had been stolen just moments before Officer Di Lillo made the traffic stop. Running in different directions, the suspects attempted to evade law enforcement, but their efforts resulted in the arrest of one individual. The efforts to identify the remaining suspects are ongoing.
The success of the early morning operation was attributed, in part, to the collaborative response from surrounding law enforcement agencies. Recognized on the same Facebook post by Mill Valley PD were the Tiburon Police Department, Marin County Sheriff's Office, and the Sausalito Police Department, whose coordinated efforts were crucial in apprehending the suspect now in custody.
