The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is lifting its sleeves to fix up the ailing south side of the Minnehaha Falls, and it's calling on locals to weigh in. We're not talking about a dab of spackle and a lick of paint here.

These beloved falls have seen better days, with plenty of closed-off areas due to broken-down stairs, crumbling walls, and pathways that have seen one too many winters. So, if you fancy having your say, mark your calendars for the public open houses on July 24 at the Minneapolis American Indian Center and July 30 at the Minnehaha Falls Bandshell, both sessions running from 5-7 pm, as detailed by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.

Now, the north side, where you can still snag a look at the falls, isn't getting touched in this project – it's all about sprucing up the south side as it deserves, the area's currently a no-go with stairs to nowhere, and slopes that are slipping, sliding away, and paths that are, well, just not safe. The grand plan, according to the bulletin published by MPRB, involves building access points that won't give out on you, shoring up those unruly slopes, and making sure everything fits in nice and tidy with the park's historical vibe.
