After a harrowing couple of days for the community of Von Ormy, relief spreads as the Bexar County Sheriff's Office confirms that 15-year-old Kaniesa Perez, reported missing since July 6, has been found safe. According to the original report by KENS5, Perez had last been seen near her home on the 15000 block of Cardamom CV, sparking a regional search effort.
Kaniesa had left home following an altercation with her guardian which prompted worry amongst authorities and community members alike the girl, described with brown hair and brown eyes, was wearing a white T-shirt, red pajama pants, and no shoes when she vanished, according to details shared by FOX San Antonio. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office had made an urgent plea to the public, reminding them of the legal ramifications associated with harboring a runaway, with potential consequences including a year behind bars and fines reaching $5,000.
In the search for Kaniesa, authorities had urged anyone with information to reach out to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office directly or contact their Missing Persons Unit via email. Now, as the investigation wraps up with the positive news of her safety, the initial tension has given way to collective relief.
