Residents of Buenaventura Lakes may notice an unusual sight in the skies next week. Osceola County Mosquito Control is rolling out a new drone-based method to fight the perennial pest problem in the wetlands, scheduled to begin Monday, July 8. This initiative aims to target and diminish the number of immature mosquitoes that thrive in the area's marshy environments, according to Osceola County.
Starting at 9 AM and continuing until 4 PM throughout the week, specially-equipped drones will disperse an organic agent that is lethal to mosquito larvae but is designed to be harmless to other forms of wildlife. The areas chosen for treatment will be scattered around the community to maximize coverage and effectiveness.
