
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently probing a shooting incident that ended in tragedy early this morning in Southeast Washington. According to a release posted by the MPD, a man was found with gunshot wounds on the 3900 block of 1st Street, Southeast, following reports of a shooting around 1:41 a.m. MPD officers, arriving on the scene, discovered the victim in the roadway.
Emergency personnel were quick to arrive, with DC Fire and EMS transporting the man to a local hospital. Efforts to save his life, however, would ultimately prove fruitless, as the victim was pronounced dead after arrival. The identity of the deceased has not been made public while the police work to notify his next of kin.
