The Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed it is looking into the circumstances surrounding a deadly motorcycle incident that occurred late last month. According to the MPD official report, the accident happened in the 500 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 9:41 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, Marvin Anthony Williams, a 33-year-old man from Fairmount Heights, Maryland, was piloting his Honda motorcycle at what is described as a high velocity. Traveling northwest, on the passenger side, Williams attempted to overtake a Honda Civic and in the process, collided with the side mirror of the car. The crash caused Williams to be thrown from his motorcycle which then continued to slide until it struck a parked car.
Desperate attempts to save his life were made upon Williams' arrival at a local hospital; however, these efforts were ultimately in vain. The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, as stated in the report from MPD. The identity of the deceased was later confirmed, affirming that the man involved in the tragic mishap was indeed Marvin Anthony Williams.
The other vehicle involved, a Honda Civic, was in front of Williams' motorcycle when the incident happened. After the occurrence of the crash, records show that the driver of the Civic remained at the scene, cooperating fully with the ensuing investigation by the police. The future of this inquiry remains open as investigators piece together the events that unfolded on that unfortunate morning.
