Chaos unfolded on the streets of several New Hampshire towns late Monday night, as a police chase that spanned approximately 20 miles ended with four arrests. The incident began shortly after 11:30 p.m., when a New Hampshire State Police trooper attempted to pull over a 2011 Subaru Outback on Hall Street in Concord, but the driver chose to instead flee, igniting a pursuit through multiple jurisdictions.
Despite having two tires deflated by a tire deflation device on Robinson Road in Bow, the driver, identified as 46-year-old Michael Gruette of Center Barnstead, continued to stubbornly drive into Dunbarton and Goffstown. As reported by NBC Boston, additional troopers joined the effort and managed to deploy another tire deflation device, effectively incapacitating a third tire.
The determined chase came to a conclusion on South Main Street in Manchester, nearby Interstate 293, where state police finally apprehended Gruette and his three passengers. According to Boston 25 News, all individuals involved, including the unnamed passengers, had outstanding warrants for their arrests.
Michael Gruette now faces charges including reckless driving, disobeying an officer, and multiple counts of reckless conduct, further aggrandized by operating after suspension. The urgency with which state police acted to contain this mobile threat speaks to the commitment of law enforcement to ensuring public safety, even as the vehicle continued to erratically make its way through the towns. With the arrests made, authorities are now encouraging anyone with information related to the pursuit to come forward and contact Trooper Joshua Farmer at 603-223-4381 or via email at [email protected].
