A New Hampshire man has been charged with multiple crimes including threatening to kill police officers and making false bomb threats, as reported by authorities. Daniel Mercado, 24, from Nashua, purportedly posted these threats on social media. According to NBC Boston, he is accused of stating his intention to shoot Nashua police officers, attack them with his vehicle, and assail them with explosives.
The situation escalated to a car chase when local law enforcement attempted to stop Mercado, only to have him boldly initiate a pursuit. The chase ended in Massachusetts, where Mercado was arrested. After his apprehension, it was discovered that the charged individual additionally claimed to have placed explosives timed for detonation on the Fourth of July in Nashua and neighboring Merrimack. This, however, was found to be untrue, as clarified by Nashua police detectives.
Following his arrest, Mercado faced preventative detention and agreed to waive extradition, as mentioned in a report by Boston 25 News. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday afternoon at the 9th Circuit District Division Court in Nashua.
