East Deer drivers can expect some relief and yet another detour as road work on Baileys Run Road enters a new phase at the end of July. The Department of Public Works has confirmed that the 400 block of Baileys Run Road is set to reopen on July 31, after being closed since May 6 for significant infrastructure improvements. This stretch has been under construction for the installation of a new retaining wall, drainage upgrades, as well as milling, paving, and the application of new pavement markings, as reported by Allegheny County.
While commuters may find solace in this section's reopening, a different section of Baileys Run Road will simultaneously close for similar upgrades. The closure will affect the area between the Route 28 entrance ramp and Freeport Road, with the project expected to wrap up in October. Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly, the recommended detour will guide them via Russellton Airport Road, Butler Logan Road, Crawford Run Road, and Freeport Road. According to the Department of Public Works, these changes will impact an average of 4,363 drivers who utilize the route daily.
The renovations come with a price tag of $1.5 million and are being carried out by Pugliano Construction Company, Inc., based in Plum. For those seeking more details about the project or the detour routes, additional information can be found in Allegheny County's official press release.
