
A commute disruption occurred on Mt. Auburn Street when a 36-year-old Newton man collided with an MBTA bus at around 9:30 AM yesterday. According to the MBTA Transit Police's post, the unlicensed driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene following the incident.
7/8 930AM Mt. Auburn St an unlicensed 36y/o Newton male rear ended an #MBTA bus,abandoned the car & fled. He was located by police/arrested. 1 minor injury reported. Fortunately, only one minor injury was reported in the accident. Running from his actions, police located and arrested the man shortly after. He was slapped with charges including Leaving the Scene, Use Without Authority, and Operating with a Suspended License. At the scene, the vehicle is said to have been towed.
For those affected by the delays, service on the #MBTA bus route was temporarily disrupted but resumed shortly after the incident. Commuters caught in the resulting delays were seen scrambling to find alternative routes, with the MBTA providing updates as the situation developed. The name of the man apprehended has not been disclosed pending further investigation.
