A fiery collision disrupted the usual tranquility of Port St. Lucie yesterday. A Council on Aging transit bus crashed into a stationary landscaping company truck on Southeast Floresta Drive, resulting in an explosion that engulfed the bus, the truck, and its attached trailer, as reported by CBS12. The incident led to significant disruptions, including damage to utilities and closure of the road in both directions. Police have urged motorists to avoid the area while the incident is being addressed.
According to WPTV News, the crash took place in the 2500 block of Southeast Floresta Drive. Having rear-ended the landscaper's truck, the ensuing explosion damaged nearby property, including a light pole and a wooden utility pole, and a boat parked innocently in a yard. Despite the fiery scene, there were no injuries reported, a detail that came as a relief to the community.
Images shared by the Port St. Lucie Police Department depicted the aftermath of the blaze, showing remnants of the trailer reduced to a mere shell. While the fire has been extinguished, the aftershocks of the event continue to reverberate, with recovery and investigation efforts ongoing. Fortunately, the bus was reported to have had no passengers aboard at the moment of the crash; only the driver was present, and they escaped unharmed from the potential peril, as confirmed by Master Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, who spoke on behalf of the police department.
