The Oaks Learning Center recently gave a nod to local uniformed heroes by hosting a Hero's Day event, in collaboration with the Red Oak Police Department and Red Oak Fire Rescue. On this day of celebration and education, children had the opportunity to climb aboard a real police cruiser and get an up-close look at Firetruck 181, according to the Red Oak Police Department.
Not only did the kids get a hands-on experience with the vehicles, but they also had the privilege of meeting the men and women who serve their community from behind the badges and within the fire trucks. The post by Red Oak PD featured photographs of smiling children, clad in plastic firefighter helmets and junior police badges, signifying a day filled with joy and youthful enthusiasm.
"Some heroes wear capes, but some wear uniforms!" exclaimed the post from the Red Oak Police Department. Amid the festivities, this sentiment was not just a statement, but a living demonstration for the kids of Oaks Learning Center – those who donned their everyday uniforms with a commitment to serve and protect, stood before them as tangible examples of real-life protectors and community helpers.
