
An officer-involved shooting, under investigation by the Pflugerville Police Department, took place near Lake Walter E. Long after an attempt to conduct a traffic stop turned violent when a suspect reportedly became combative with narcotics officers and attempted to hijack an unmarked police vehicle, resulting in the suspect being shot and hospitalized.
According to a report by KXAN, the confrontation occurred around 6:15 p.m., near Loyola Lane and Wentworth Drive in East Austin, and following the altercation, the involved officer was placed on administrative leave, which is the Pflugerville Police Department's standard procedure after such incidents.
The suspect’s attempt to flee was interrupted by an officer's gun discharge, leading to injury and immediate life-saving efforts on the scene by the officers until EMS arrived, the injured suspect was then transported to Dell Seton Hospital, yet their current medical condition remains undisclosed, as mentioned in a release by CBS Austin.
