Tragedy struck early yesterday morning when a speeding SUV ran a red light and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck in Dearborn, resulting in one fatality and another person critically injured. The crash occurred at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Nowlin Street, an area known for its series of strip malls. According to The Detroit News, the incident took place around 8 a.m., prompting an immediate response from local authorities.
The Dearborn Police Department has confirmed the fatal outcome of the crash, which claimed the life of a 33-year-old woman from Dearborn, who was behind the wheel of the F-150. Driving the SUV, the 26-year-old Taylor woman was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, where she remains in critical condition. With the intensity of the crash, the intersection was shut down for the ongoing investigation, as reported by the Detroit Free Press.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the SUV was speeding eastbound on Michigan Avenue when it failed to halt at the traffic signal, subsequently striking the truck. The two drivers were the single occupants in their respective vehicles, leaving a scene that was as abrupt as it was mournful. "Our sincere condolences go out to the loved ones of the deceased and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this devastating crash," stated Dearborn Police Commander Timothy McHale, as per The Detroit News.
