One Injured in Boat Collision Near 14th Street Bridge on Potomac River, Investigations Ongoing

On a recent Saturday afternoon, a collision occurred on the Potomac River near the 14th Street bridge involving a water taxi and a 24-foot pleasure craft. According to a post by DC Fire and EMS published on DC News Now at 3:12 p.m., emergency crews responded to the scene where the pleasure craft had taken on water after the incident.

The water taxi reported no damage from the encounter, however, the smaller boat required assistance to dewater, and was pending a tow. In addition to the immediate rescue efforts, one person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, as confirmed by WTOP. Both the District police, and the U.S. Coast Guard are actively investigating the causes and circumstances surrounding the crash.
