
A tragic incident on the eve of the 4th of July has left one person dead and two others injured in Temecula. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office reports that a head-on collision occurred near Rancho California Road and Interstate 15. The fatal event unfolded at about 5:19 p.m. on July 5, 2024, when, for reasons not yet clear, a Hyundai SUV strayed into oncoming traffic resulting in a violent three-car crash.
Deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station were quickly on the scene, alongside emergency medical personnel who attempted lifesaving efforts. Despite these efforts, the Hyundai's driver was pronounced dead at the scene while two others suffered injuries necessitating urgent care, and were subsequently transported to local hospitals. No evidence has suggested intoxication as a factor, said Sergeant William Pratt on the official report.
The accident investigation, undertaken by specialists from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station, is ongoing to piece together the circumstances leading up to the crash. The identity of the deceased has not been revealed, with officials citing the pending notification of next of kin as the reason for the current withholding of this information.
