The Orange County Sheriff's Office is currently on the lookout for a person of interest following a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday in the Rio Pinar Lakes community. The deputies, upon responding to a call at around 12:12 a.m., located the victim, a man in his 30s, at the 7900 block of Sapphire Lane, as reported by ClickOrlando.
The unnamed individual was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. To advance their investigation, the sheriff's office is asking for public assistance to identify the person of interest connected to the shooting, sharing an image of the man across various platforms.
In conjunction with details from the sheriff's office, WFTV gathered more context from a resident at the home where the shooting took place. According to their account, the incident interrupted what was a celebration for his sister, who was about to leave the country, attended by several family members, including women and children.
An exchange that began outside the home quickly escalated, ending in gunfire. The resident described the victim as a friend and voiced his uncertainty regarding what precipitated the attack. He further indicated that the suspected gunman was not known to him personally, having been brought to the gathering by another attendee. "The alleged gunman was brought to the event by another guest, and he did not know the person," as per WFTV.
The sheriff's office and the local community are urging anyone with knowledge of the individual or insights into the event to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation. Individuals with information can anonymously contact Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
