The first Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee meetings are set to take place at the Kia Center. This initial gathering, scheduled for Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., is open to the public, offering a venue for attendees to partake in shaping the permanent memorial for the 49 lives lost in the tragic 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting. A second meeting will follow on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Those interested in joining virtually can find access details through a link provided by WFTV.
Announced by community leaders earlier this month, the Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee comprises 18 diverse members, including survivors, family members who lost loved ones, former Pulse employees, and mental health professionals. According to a report by FOX 35 Orlando, the committee members were selected anonymously, with personal identifying information omitted to ensure a fair review process.
Residents who wish to offer their perspectives on the memorial have numerous opportunities to do so over the next six months. The first Open House event, for both English and Spanish speakers, is on tap for Thursday, situated in the White and Blue Rooms at the Kia E Center between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Those unable to attend in person can still input by accessing the dedicated City of Orlando website.
