An Oscoda Township man has been convicted for threatening his former landlord, who is also the Iosco County Prosecutor, as per reports by the Michigan Office of Attorney General. Dominque Simo, age 40, was found guilty by an Iosco County jury on a charge of malicious use of a telecommunications device. This felony could lead to a maximum sentence of six months in jail or a fine of $1,000. According to WNEM, sentencing decisions have yet to be announced, but the state noted its intent to seek a sentence that includes mandated mental health treatment.
Details released by the Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel's office reveal that on February 11, Dominque Simo warned James A. Bacarella that failing to swiftly appear at Simo's residence would evoke regret. "In a time where escalating threats are becoming alarmingly frequent, I am grateful that the jury unequivocally recognized that such behavior cannot be tolerated or normalized,” Nessel said. This information was corroborated by a statement from the Attorney General's office. A previous threat to shoot Bacarella in 2023, when Simo rented from him, was taken into serious account by the jury, framing the recent phone call as distinctly menacing.
