Early Tuesday morning, an Orangevale gun store became the scene of a break-in resulting in the theft of at least 25 firearms. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office post on their Facebook page, the burglary was detected around 3:45 AM at a shop located on Greenback Lane. The store owner, monitoring remotely, alerted authorities after observing an individual within the premises and a shattered front window.
Upon the arrival of deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and officers from neighboring jurisdictions, it was discovered that the suspect or suspects had already departed. The officers found a deserted gray Kia SUV, which was later determined to have been stolen from Fair Oaks earlier that evening but had not been reported yet.
Investigators have launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, interviewing multiple witnesses and collecting evidence from the crime scene. The getaway method involved backing the stolen Kia SUV into the store's front window to gain access, after which the suspect or suspects made off with the cache of firearms in another unknown vehicle.
The authorities are actively seeking information from the public on this case. A cash reward of up "to $1000, and tipsters remain anonymous," as stated in the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office release. Individuals with information on the burglary are encouraged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers through various channels including phone, the "P3 TIPS" app, and online websites.
