Early Friday morning, the Pflugerville Fire Department was called to a house fire in the 2800 block of Pedernales Falls Drive, a potentially electric bike or scooter caused the blaze. As reported by CBS Austin, all occupants managed to exit the house safely, thanks to working smoke alarms which alerted them to the danger. The fire was limited and extinguished within the confines of the garage, but the cause is still under active investigation by authorities.
According to the Pflugerville Fire Department, there is speculation that an electric bike/scooter near the origin point of the fire may have been a contributing factor. Fire hazards related to lithium-ion batteries have become increasingly common, prompting a reminder for public awareness on the matter. The statement underlined the importance of operating smoke alarms in residential spaces, reiterating the message with their hashtag #smokealarmssavelives.
