Tenants at an apartment complex in Phoenix are grappling with a nightmare scenario where the company of rats, mice, and maggots is an uninvited constancy. According to a report by ABC15, these residents have been experiencing a pest problem for months near Central Avenue and Camelback Road, with property management largely unresponsive to their plight.
It was only after multiple attempts and enduring the presence of vermin that the beleaguered residents finally received some form of acknowledgment. However, the response seemingly added insult to an already injurious situation. When the property management did address the issue, their efforts appeared to worsen the conditions. One resident, Miranda Moore, recounted to ABC15, "When they do come and they take these dead rats out of holes in the walls, stoves, they’re leaving droppings all over the floor and counters. There’s been maggots that have fallen out onto countertops. I can hear them in the walls, you can hear them up in the vents. I’ve seen them move around in the vents."
The persistent issue has left many questioning the efficacy of hygiene and maintenance protocols at the complex. Another report provided by Urban Active revealed that these problems began several months ago and despite reaching out to those in charge, residents were met with silence until recently. The sense of urgency felt by the occupants starkly contrasts with the lethargic response of the building's management, highlighting a disconnect between resident welfare and property maintenance.
The infestation has not only posed sanitary concerns but has also raised alarm over the overall livability of the complex. No comprehensive solution has been reported as of yet.
