Last month's discovery of two bodies submerged in Montour Run Creek has left local residents unsettled. Identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, 22-year-old Bilson Ramirez and 34-year-old Alexi Heber Verdugo Lopez were found on June 28, without a determined cause or manner of death. According to WTAE, one of the individuals was initially spotted by local police in about 6 feet of water, prompting a search that soon revealed the other body in approximately 10 feet of water.
The Allegheny County police were first notified about the situation at around 4:05 p.m., on the day the bodies were found. Retrieval of the bodies involved divers who encountered the deceased men along the scenic Montour Trail, a common area for joggers and nature enthusiasts, WPXI reported. The community has responded to the tragedy with support, and a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist the family of Bilson Ramirez.
The unexpected deaths have prompted an ongoing investigation by the county police, who have discovered no signs of foul play at this stage.
