Pittsburgh Police are actively seeking information from the public to help identify a man involved in a recent assault incident. According to the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Blotter, the assault took place just after 2 p.m. on July 1, at a bus stop near the crossroads of Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue. The suspect, described as a male aged between 35-45, approximately 6'0" tall, and weighing 185 lbs with short hair, eyeglasses, and a beard, reportedly became disorderly and aggressive while intoxicated.
The victim, who was waiting at the bus stop, reported that the man approached him and kicked him without any apparent reason. Following the initial assault, when the victim attempted to stand up and move away, the suspect then hit him twice in the head with a glass alcohol bottle and threatened him using a pocket knife. This account, disclosed in the public safety blotter, underscores an unprovoked act of violence that disrupted the ordinary flow of city life.
The victim received medical attention at a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, having sustained two lacerations to the head. The assailant fled the scene following the attack, heading down Smithfield Street towards Fifth Avenue. The police have released a photo of the suspect, capturing a clear view of his face, hoping that someone might recognize him and come forward with additional information.
