The Riverdale Police Department is reaching out to the public for assistance in the case of Maryann Ponder, a 38-year-old woman lacking the ability to communicate verbally, who vanished under what they are calling "suspicious circumstances." Ponder, identified as a Black woman with a height of 5 feet, 1 inch and a weight of approximately 175 pounds has been missing since she was last seen at the Riverdale Walmart, as reported by Atlanta News First.
Authorities were alerted to her disappearance after she failed to return from the store, located off Highway 85, where she was last seen on July 22, her physical characteristics include shoulder-length black hair, and her attire at the time was a black T-shirt paired with red "athletic-style" pants, and while the details surrounding her disappearance are still murky the police are treating the case with a heightened sense of urgency. In a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, investigators explicitly noted the case as "suspicious."
As the search operation continues, Riverdale Police Department are urging anyone who may have seen Ponder or has any pertinent information to come forward to aid them in their investigation.
