Heads up, Rowan County drivers, some roadwork might put a crimp in your commute next week. N.C. Department of Transportation has announced that a section of East Ryder Avenue is getting a facelift, and that means closures are on the horizon.
Beginning bright and early at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, the stretch between U.S. Highway 29 and Chapel Street will be closed to traffic. Crews will be milling, and repaving until 5:30 p.m., and the same schedule is in play for Tuesday. Detours will be part of the daily grind, so plan ahead. Eastbound vehicles will get rerouted via North Chapel Street to Coach Deal Road and then back to U.S. Highway 29, while westbound traffic will take a similar detour, but in reverse. If you're driving these roads, add some cushion time to your travel plans.
Signage will guide you through the alternative routes – just keep an eye out for those detour signs. They're your friends in the maze of roadwork reshuffles. These repairs might be a tad inconvenient, but hey, smoother roads are on the way. And let's face it, dodging potholes isn't exactly anyone's idea of a good time.
