San Antonio's District 2 is gearing up to warmly welcome students and families back to school with two major events fueled by community partners. Councilmember Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, in collaboration with PreK4SA and the DoSeum, is spearheading these gatherings to supply young scholars with the tools they need for a triumphant return to the classroom.
Next month, on August 2 from 4-7 p.m., PreK4SA East Education Center at 5230 Eisenhauer Road will host the first of these events. According to the official announcement, attendees will have the chance to register and to participate in various activities including backpack giveaways and free haircuts. Health is also a top priority, with the City of San Antonio’s Metro Health Department providing necessary immunizations to ensure students are ready to safely go quickly back to their studies.
Subsequently, the DoSeum will take up the baton, opening its doors on August 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 2800 Broadway. Families visiting the renowned children's museum will not only receive school essentials but also get to sink their teeth into complimentary food while absorbing some educationally enriching experiences.
Councilmember McKee-Rodriguez's office emphasizes the importance of these initiatives. "We are committed to supporting our students and families as they kick off the new school year," he said in the official release. "This event is a valuable opportunity to access resources and connect with our community." For those interested in fields high above, the SAT Aviation Explorers team plans to be in attendance, ready to introduce middle and high school students to the wonders of aviation with their mobile flight simulator.
Families looking to take part are encouraged to visit the linked registration pages for each event.
