San Antonio Spurs Sign Undrafted Forward Riley Minix Ahead of Training Camp

The San Antonio Spurs have reportedly inked a training camp deal with forward Riley Minix, as first noted by Keith Smith of Spotrac on X. Fresh out of Morehead State, Minix, who stands at a sturdy 6-8 and weighs in at 230 pounds, managed to impress in the Summer League despite being overlooked in the NBA draft earlier this year.

During his senior season at Morehead State, Minix averaged 20.9 points and pulled down 9.1 rebounds per game, showing off his capabilities as a formidable presence on the court. His Summer League stints included a 16-point game against the Pelicans and a 14-point effort in a win over the Raptors. On top of that, the kid showed off his ranged shooting, hitting 50% from beyond the arc, according to a report from KENS 5.

With Minix's potential, it's no surprise that Spurs Summer League coach Kenny Trevino has been vocal about the forward's scoring ability and physical strength. "Minix will come into training camp with a chance to earn a two-way roster spot," MSN reported, considering his performances could land him a coveted role alongside the likes of Jamaree Bouyea and possibly second-round pick Harrison Ingram.

It appears the Spurs' brass will have their hands full come September when Minix joins the fray at training camp, battling for an opportunity to secure what could be the final two-way contract spot.
