The San Antonio Police Department is currently on the hunt for suspects in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred last night on the city's southeast side. The gunfire erupted in the backyard of a home on East Dullnig Court near Interstate 37, around 7 p.m. The tragic event resulted in the death of a teenager, according to KSAT. Initially reported as a man in his 20s, police later clarified the victim was a 17-year-old who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the midst of what is believed to have been a drug transaction turned deadly, the 17-year-old and another individual found themselves exchanging gunfire with a group, KENS 5 reports. Following the shooting, the other individuals involved fled in a black vehicle, and, have yet to be apprehended. Police have detained one person who was with the victim but it remains unclear whether this individual or any of the suspects are residents.
As of now, no firearms were discovered on the deceased, but the person detained by SAPD was found in possession of a gun. SAPD’s Homicide Unit along with crime scene investigators are piecing together the grim puzzle in an ongoing investigation that aims to shed light on the circumstances and the individuals involved.
