In a recent update from the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, a jury has found Darvin Ramirez-Perez, age 38, guilty of a string of auto and residential burglaries. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins reported the conviction, which includes two counts of first-degree hot prowl residential burglary, attempted first-degree residential burglary, and other related charges, highlighting the individual's criminal spree that lasted nearly two years. "The jury's verdict holds Mr. Ramirez-Perez accountable for his many crimes and ensures that he will face consequences", Jenkins expressed, as per the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

The evidence presented at trial describes a pattern of burglaries beginning in March 2021, with incidents ranging from smashing vehicle windows to more daring hot prowl residential break-ins. According to the DA's Office, Ramirez-Perez was initially caught in Union Square after quickly breaking into a Ford F-150 and stealing a suitcase. By February of 2023, the crimes had escalated, leading to Ramirez-Perez using a crowbar to forcibly gain entry into a Lower Pacific Heights home, frightening a resident and her infant, only to be apprehended by the police just a block away.
This case was successfully led to a close by Assistant District Attorney Edward Mario, who noted the psychological impact of the defendant's actions on his victims. "Even when victims do not experience physical injury, home invasions leave a deep sense of personal violation and trauma", Mario stated, as cited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, reinforcing the severity of Ramirez-Perez's crimes beyond the physical theft and damage.
Ramirez-Perez remains in custody, with sentencing arranged for August 19. The convictions represent a collaborative effort among the prosecutor's office, the SFPD Burglary Unit, DNA Crime Lab, and support staff, all acknowledged by the District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney for their integral roles in securing this outcome.
