A young man's attempt to responsibly sell a pair of headphones ended tragically last weekend in Sanford. 22-year-old Brandon Leo was fatally shot while sitting in his pickup truck after he had arranged to sell the headphones online. The sale was set to take place in the driveway of an empty home on West Third Street, described by police as a potential "set-up," according to information released by the Sanford Police Department, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando.
Witnesses rapidly made several 911 calls as the violent episode unfolded. One caller reported, "Probably both, sir, there have been gunshots fired," indicating the immediate need for both police and medical services. Another stated, "It's a shootout, it's a shootout in front of my house," with a reported six or seven shots heard, WESH reported. Officers are now seeking to locate the two individuals who approached Leo's truck.
Sanford Police Department has reminded the public to take precautionary measures when conducting such transactions, with Officer Gillett emphasizing the unpredictable nature of online interactions: "When you're making these online transactions, you don't know who's on the other side of that computer, and you don't really know their intentions," she stated, as detailed by WESH.
