Santa Ana police are actively searching for a man accused of attacking a security guard with a skateboard after being confronted for trespassing at a local Target store. The incident, which took place on June 10th, was captured on the store's security cameras and later shared by authorities in hopes of identifying the assailant.
The confrontation occurred at the Target located on W. 17th Street, Santa Ana. As per KTLA, the security guard asked the suspect to leave the premises when, in response, "The suspect struck the victim multiple times with his skateboard, causing injuries, and then fled the store." Surveillance footage embedded within the police's Instagram post seemingly shows the suspect swinging the weapon, and then attempting to escape.
Details provided by the FOXLA report describe the suspect as a White male between 18 and 25 years old with a thin build and curly blonde hair. He was dressed in a black sweatshirt, blue plaid shorts, black socks, and shoes. The video also shows a moment where the man first hits the security guard once and seems to run away before turning around to hit the guard again with the skateboard.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the attacker to come forward. Santa Ana Police Department described the suspect as "Male, White, approximately 18-25 years old, thin build, curly blonde hair," and noted that he was wearing "a black sweatshirt, light-colored shirt, blue plaid shorts, black socks, and black shoes." In their plea for the public's aid, the Santa Ana Police Department's Instagram post provides contact information for Detective Corporal Vega, who can be reached at (714) 245-8441 or via email at [email protected].
The attack has left the security guard with injuries, and the police are treating this matter seriously. The Santa Ana Police Department has not only disseminated visual evidence of the crime and suspect via social media but has also appealed to citizens, recognizing that without their stake in communal safety, resolutions to such acts of violence invariably lag. Community members with relevant information or leads are encouraged to contribute to the search for justice in this ongoing investigation.
