A three-year-old boy in Savannah, Georgia, was found safe after being kidnapped during what authorities have described as a "domestic incident" yesterday morning. The Savannah Police Department confirmed that the child, Kiara Raynor, had been taken by Tamorris Raynor, 27, and initiated a search for them both. The distressing situation reached a resolution when the young child was located, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Details about the circumstances under which the toddler was found have not been disclosed, yet the relief following his rescue is palpable in the community. According to a neighbor who got involved early in the incident, the boy's mother sought help after being threatened. "She’s like, my baby’s father pointed a gun at her. When she said, ‘Pointed a gun at her,’ I was like wait, I’m gonna help you regardless," the neighbor recounted in an interview with FOX 5 Atlanta.
Tamorris Raynor was subsequently arrested this afternoon, with the Savannah Police Department detailing multiple charges which include kidnapping, battery, aggravated assault, cruelty to children, and possession of a firearm. The severity of the charges reflects the gravity of the events that unfolded.
The community's cooperation played a noteworthy role, with additional details coming to light regarding the hours leading up to the abduction. A neighbor shared with News 3 that the child's mother described a fight that escalated from the Waffle House to the gas station, culminating in the kidnapping. "She told me about him and her having a fight going from the Waffle House to the gas station and that he still had her kid in the car," the neighbor said.
