The city of Scottsdale is preparing to roll out its annual veteran recognition initiative this November. The Scottsdale Salutes program is set to feature banners in Old Town showcasing local veterans and military personnel to acknowledge their service and sacrifices, as reported by a recent article.

Scottsdale Mayor David D. Ortega was quoted expressing the city's intention, stating, "This program is a way for our city to publicly thank and recognize the sacrifices made by our veterans, active-duty military, National Guard members and reservists." The city looks to also openly honor their commitment, showing a sense of community gratitude. Eligibility for the banner program is open to veterans and active military members with significant Scottsdale ties, including those who have chosen to work in the city for a substantial period.

Those keen to nominate veterans or service members can submit their candidates at ScottsdaleAZ.gov by simply searching for "Scottsdale Salutes" until September 27. A community reception in November has been scheduled to celebrate those selected, adding a personal touch to the tributes.

The Scottsdale Veterans Advisory Commission, which oversees the Scottsdale Salutes program, wants to ensure those veterans who've been deeply integrated into the city's fabric through their work are also acknowledged this year. Land Anderson, chair of the commission, elaborated on this by stating, "We are proud to continue this tradition of honoring service members through the Scottsdale Salutes program." Nominations have now been expanded to encompass individuals with a minimum of five years of work history within the city.
