
Rescue efforts are underway following the crash of a small plane near North Palm Beach County Airport this afternoon. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported, "At 2:12 pm, deputies responded 11600 block of Aviation Blvd (North County Airport)." According to BocaNewsNow, the aircraft is believed to have had two occupants who are currently unaccounted for after the plane entered a nearby body of water.
Echoing details from earlier reports, WPBF has shared that the aircraft involved in the incident has been completely submerged. In a frantic scene, described by the sheriff’s office, divers from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, and Palm Gardens Fire Rescue have been dispatched and are now combing the waters in search of the missing crew. Airport officials have not released the type of the downed aircraft, and the runway from which the plane veered before becoming submerged remains closed.
Furthering rescue operations, marine units from both the sheriff's office and West Palm Beach Police Department are also making their way to the distressing scene.
