Carter's appointment was announced this Thursday, as she brings a formidable background in sports, entertainment, and media spanning over two decades. Her career encompasses stints at the NBA, WNBA, MLS, Soccer United Marketing, and ESPN, in addition to helming her own media group, according to KING5.
Courtney Carter, who also founded and leads the Carter Media Group, expressed her enthusiasm about the role and her return to the Pacific Northwest, a region synonymous with her early connections to soccer. "Returning to the Pacific Northwest is a bit of a full-circle moment as it is where I fell in love with the game and learned so many life lessons along the way. To say I am a product of PNW soccer is something that I am proud of, knowing it is where some of the greatest players to ever play were born and raised," Carter stated in an article by FOX 13 Seattle. Her mandate includes driving strategic development and garnering global revenue for both clubs.
Before establishing Carter Media Group, Carter's resume boasted a role as an agent in the TV & Digital Talent / Packaging and Brand Partnerships group at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). There, she was instrumental in packaging shows and campaigns across television and digital platforms. At ESPN, Carter was Director of Sports Management and Branded Content, earning accolades for her creative marketing solutions. Carter's roots in the Pacific Northwest go deep; she was a standout soccer player and a formative figure at Oregon State University, helping grow the game and foster investment equity in the larger sports industry. The Seattle-based soccer franchises hold respectable records, with the Sounders being the first and only MLS franchise to claim the Concacaf Champions League along with multiple MLS Cups and U.S. Open Cup championships, and Reign FC known as a robust member of the highly competitive National Women’s Soccer League.
