A second man has been apprehended and now faces homicide charges in connection to a 2022 slaying in South Houston. Dylon Reanard Adams, 22, has been indicted with murder and brought to book in the 208th State District Court related to the death of 39-year-old Codie Girouard. In accordance with a release from the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, the arresting officers discovered Girouard, suffering from a fatal gunshot injury to his head
The first suspect, 27-year-old Joshua Gerard Jackson, already faces murder charges in the 262nd State District Court. It was back in early July last year when the police took Jackson into custody. Two individuals are now formally accused of allegedly orchestrating the violence that unraveled around noon on February 19, 2022, at 8433 Hearth Drive. Authorities reported that Girouard had intended to meet with the suspects prior to the killing, but when they arrived, the situation turned deadly almost immediately. The suspects are said to have shot Girouard as he walked up to their vehicle, which was later identified on surveillance videos to be a black Nissan Rogue with notable front-end damage.
Houston Police Department Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and D. Glass were leading the investigation. After the public release of the footage on February 23, they managed to identify Jackson as a primary suspect. Adams, the second suspect, was pinpointed following further detailed investigation. His arrest occurred on July 12, with assistance from the HPD South Gessner Crime Suppression Team and officers from the McKinney Police Department. Adams faces multiple counts, including murder and unlawful weapon carriage, and remains incarcerated in Harris County Jail.
The proceedings are being handled separately in Texas state courts. Links to the booking photos of Adams and Jackson were released as part of the official statement from City of Houston News. The report there also confirms the sequential details leading up to the capture of both individuals implicated in Girouard's murder.
