A tragic turn of events unfolded in Sterling on Sunday when a woman was struck and killed by her own vehicle during a carjacking, as confirmed by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the vicinity of the 21000 block of Towncenter Plaza, according to DC News Now, when deputies responded to the scene after receiving a report of a carjacking; the suspect had hit 54-year-old Melody Waldecker with her car while making their escape, a sequence of events leading to a senseless loss of life.
Melody Waldecker, a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the location of the crime, a fact that underscores the sudden and violent nature of the incident.
