The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that roadwork on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) will extend into the tail end of August as part of a local safety improvement project. According to PennDOT's release, the construction will involve lane closures that could significantly impact travel times in the area.
If you plan to drive along Route 3 between Boot Road and Bryn Mawr Avenue, expect single-lane closures from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays from July 8 through August 30. Nighttime travelers will also encounter lane closures from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning starting on July 9 through July 18, stretching between Boot Road and Charles Ellis Drive for milling and paving work.
Delays are expected to be common during these periods, so PennDOT advises motorists to allow extra time when traveling through the work zones.
Of course, all of the work and resultant travel restrictions are weather-dependent. This means that on any given day if the skies open and the downpour begins, schedules could shift. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed about the latest developments on the roadway works and plan their routes accordingly.
