A suspect has been apprehended and faces murder charges in connection with a shooting incident that left a woman dead in Houston, law enforcement authorities reported. The Houston Police Department stated the arrest stemmed from a deadly event that occurred on Monday afternoon at an apartment complex situated at 4521 Kashmere Street.
Darion King, age 27, has been charged with murder following the shooting and is currently being held for his suspected role in the incident. Upon their arrival, HPD patrol officers discovered a woman, unresponsive and with several gunshot wounds, inside an apartment she was visiting, as documented in an official news release from the City of Houston. Despite the life-saving attempts to quickly respond by paramedics from the Houston Fire Department, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The identity of the victim, reported to be 32 years of age, is still pending confirmation through the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Meanwhile, HPD Homicide Division's Sergeant J. Brooks and Detective C. Flora indicated that King made the decision to come forward and speak with detectives about the shooting. Based on King's statement and subsequent communication with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, officials had enough evidence to charge him formally.
King's apprehension occurred smoothly; he was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Harris County Jail.
