In the early hours of Thursday, Tampa Police were called to a Palmetto Beach home where an alleged burglary ended in a fatal shooting. According to the City of Tampa release, officers arrived at a residence on the 1300 block of South Bermuda Blvd around 4:19 am following a report of a burglary.
The homeowner, an adult male, reported that an individual had unlawfully gained entry into his home through the window. During a confrontation, the homeowner shot the intruder. The injured man, found to be in his early 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving officers. The shooter has remained on scene and is said to be cooperating fully with the investigation, as reported by the City of Tampa.
Authorities have indicated that there is no further threat to the public as a result of this incident.
