According to Evie Larmond, president of the Caribbean Community Association, and also holding the managerial reins at Jerk Hut, these efforts are a reflection of a tightly-knit community ethos that transcends borders. Suffering only temporarily immobilizes, for Larmond insists that unity propels action. "It doesn't matter which island gets hit. Every single island feels responsible to help that island get back up and get back on [its] feet again," she shared in an anecdote suffused with a sense of collective responsibility, as told to FOX 13 News.
The Tampa community has already begun to show up in substantial numbers, depositing a plethora of supplies to aid their Caribbean neighbors.
