
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by Springfield Police in connection with a shooting on Berkshire Avenue that left an adult male with serious injuries. According to a report given by the Springfield Police Department, the shooting occurred on Thursday, July 25th around 2:10 p.m. The victim was promptly attended to by officers at the scene and later transported to Baystate for medical attention.
Following the incident, the Springfield Police Detective Bureau, led by Captain Trent Duda, worked to quickly to locate a suspect. They found and detained the teenager on the 0-100 block of Geneva Street. Further search efforts led to the recovery of a firearm on the 0-100 block of Steuben Street, although it has not been confirmed whether the weapon is connected to the shooting.
The identity of the 16-year-old suspect is protected due to his status as a minor, and the police have not released his name, charges, or booking photo in accordance with juvenile privacy laws. Details regarding the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, as the SPD continues to look for any additional suspects possibly involved in the incident.
